Abbott UK

Abbott is giving new hope to people who suffer from chronic back pain and require surgical intervention. Our focus on less invasive treatment options and motion-preserving technologies is aimed at easing patient discomfort, minimising hospital stays and restoring mobility.

More than 70 per cent of adults will suffer from some form of back pain during their lifetime as a result of degenerative disease, deformity or traumatic injury. For many, surgical intervention is a last resort to ease their pain.

Our approach is to provide a broad product portfolio that includes both traditional and more innovative techniques.

Fusion
Our wide range of conventional fusion products includes implants designed to treat most spinal disorders (degenerative, trauma, tumour and deformity) at the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral levels. Among the conventional products are arthrodesis systems, PEEK or titanium cages and cervical plates. Each of these systems offers an extensive range of implants and dedicated instrumentation to facilitate the surgeon's task and contribute to better patient outcomes.

Minimally invasive surgery
Abbott is a pioneer in minimally invasive surgery, one of the fastest-growing approaches to spine surgery. Our system allows spinal devices to be implanted through an incision that is a fraction of the size required for traditional “open” spinal fusion procedures. By minimising tissue and muscle disruption, patients may benefit from faster recovery, fewer pain medications, reduced blood loss and less visible scarring.

Non-fusion
The Wallis non-fusion device provides an alternative to fusion for the treatment of patients in the early stages of degenerative disc disease where the condition cannot be improved by non-operative measures.
